NBA Draft inks deal with Denver
DENVER, July 20 -- The Denver Nuggets have signed Nikoloz Tskitishvili,
the team’s first round draft pick, to a contract, team General
Manager Kiki Vandeweghe announced today. Per team policy, terms of
the deal were not released.
Tskitishvili (SKEET-ish-VEE-lee), 19, was selected with the fifth
overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. The 7-0, 225, forward played in
Italy last season for Benetton Treviso and averaged 6.6 ppg in 11
games, while shooting .733 (22-30) from the field. He was coached
in Italy by former Nuggets head coach Mike D’Antoni.
The Republic of Georgia native played two seasons in Slovenia (1999-01)
for KK Slovan. He was also a member of the Georgian National Team
at the 1999 European Junior Championship and at the 2000 European
Junior Championship qualifying round.
Tskitishvili is participating with the Nuggets in the Rocky Mountain
Revue July 20-27.
